Registration and Prices for Kindergartens
Admission Criteria
- Minimum age of the child: 2 years
- Primary residence of at least one legal guardian and of the child to be registered must be in Schwechat.
For children who are school-aged starting 2027/2028, the mandatory kindergarten year begins on September 7, 2026.
Registration for next year 2026/27
Registration takes place in two steps:
- Fill out the online form (3–23 November 2025)
- In person with the child at Felmayer Scheune (26 & 27 November)
26.11. from 11:00 to 17:30: Last names starting with A–J
27.11. from 10:00 to 17:30: Last names starting with K–Z
ATTENTION: If your child already attends a day care facility of the City of Schwechat, you do not need to come to Felmayer Scheune for registration.

Late registrations can only be considered subject to available capacity. Mid-year entry is only possible if there are free places.

Required Documents
- Registration form of the child
- Registration form of the legal guardians
- Birth certificate of the child
- E-Card of the child
- Any relevant medical reports that may exist
- If the primary residence is not yet in Schwechat, a copy of the rental or purchase agreement of the apartment or house must be provided to demonstrate the intention to move.
Allocation of Places
The allocation of places is based on the following criteria:
- Potential siblings who are already attending a facility at the same care location
- Proximity to the respective kindergarten
- Age of the child
- Important personal reasons noted in the application
Opening Hours
Monday - Friday: 7 am to 5 pm.
Holidays and days like November 15th (St. Leopold's Day) and November 2nd (All Souls' Day) follow the official school holidays.
Summer Vacation: Eight weeks of holiday care (of which six weeks are in the same facility, two weeks are inter-institutional holiday care). In addition, if there's sufficient demand during the Christmas, mid-term, Easter holidays, and the ninth week of the summer holidays, inter-institutional holiday care is provided.
Current Prices
According to § 25 para. 2 of the NÖ. Kindergarten Act 2006, the kindergarten operator must collect a fee from the parents (legal guardians) for the educational and care time in the afternoon.
- € 58.00 up to 40 hours (e.g., daily until 3:00 pm)
- € 92.00 up to 60 hours (e.g., daily until 4:00 pm)
- € 104.00 up to 80 hours (e.g., daily until 5:00 pm)
After 5 pm, an additional fee of € 46.00 is to be paid.
At the Schwechat municipal office, you can apply for financial assistance towards the fee contribution (however, this does not apply retroactively). For this, proof of the family's net income is required. Printed forms are available at the kindergarten or at the town hall, under the childcare section.
Additionally, the following costs apply:
- Activity and play fee per child per month: € 9.00
- Meal per day: € 4.07
