Registration and Prices for Kindergartens

Admission Criteria

Minimum age of the child: 2 years (starting from the kindergarten year 2024/25)
Primary residence of at least one legal guardian and of the child to be registered must be in Schwechat.

For children who are school-aged starting 2025/2026, the mandatory kindergarten year begins on September 2, 2024.

Registration

Registrations for the next kindergarten year (2024/25) will start from November 1, 2023, in two steps:

Fill out the online form (November 1-12, 2023)
The online form must be completed within the registration period. NO mobile signature or ID Austria is required for this. To secure a spot in a particular kindergarten, the timing of when the form is submitted does not matter, as long as it is submitted within this period.
In person with the child at the Felmayer Scheune, Neukettenhofer Straße 2-8 (November 13 and 14, 2023)
November 13, from 10 am to 6 pm: Surnames starting with the letters A-J
November 14, from 8 am to 6 pm: Surnames starting with the letters K-Z

ATTENTION: If your child already attends a day care facility (TBE) within the Schwechat city area, you do not need to come to the barn. Registration is exclusively online. For more information, please contact your TBE.

E-Card of the child
Any relevant medical reports that may exist
If the primary residence is not yet in Schwechat, a copy of the rental or purchase agreement of the apartment or house must be provided to demonstrate the intention to move.

Open House Days

This year, the "Open House Day" will again take place in the facilities. The buildings are open on different days for you, or in some cases, an appointment needs to be arranged by phone.

The Tagesbetreuungseinrichtung (Day Care Facility) Zirkelweg is a special case among the child care institutions. Children from 1.5 to 6 years of age can attend it. It consists of two groups with a maximum of 15 children per group. Children who attend this TBE will remain there until they start school; switching to another kindergarten is not possible. Employment proof: For children between 1.5 and 3 years of age in this TBE, just like in all other Schwechat TBEs, employment proofs of the legal guardians must be provided.

Opening Hours

Monday - Friday: 7 am to 5 pm.

Holidays and days like November 15th (St. Leopold's Day) and November 2nd (All Souls' Day) follow the official school holidays.
Summer Vacation: Eight weeks of holiday care (of which six weeks are in the same facility, two weeks are inter-institutional holiday care). In addition, if there's sufficient demand during the Christmas, mid-term, Easter holidays, and the ninth week of the summer holidays, inter-institutional holiday care is provided.

Current Prices

According to § 25 para. 2 of the NÖ. Kindergarten Act 2006, the kindergarten operator must collect a fee from the parents (legal guardians) for the educational and care time in the afternoon.

€ 54.00 up to 40 hours (e.g., daily until 3:00 pm)
€ 86.00 up to 60 hours (e.g., daily until 4:00 pm)
€ 97.00 up to 80 hours (e.g., daily until 5:00 pm)

After 5 pm, an additional fee of € 43.00 is to be paid.

At the Schwechat municipal office, you can apply for financial assistance towards the fee contribution (however, this does not apply retroactively). For this, proof of the family's net income is required. Printed forms are available at the kindergarten or at the town hall, under the childcare section.
