The Museum
The New Schwechat Museum presents alternative exhibitions mainly about every-day life, social activities and the historical past.
In 1996 the Museum opened the exhibition entitled „From the Drummer’s Announcements to the Internet. 1000 Years of Information and Communication “. Two years later the museum presented the exhibition entitled „The World of Labor in the Course of Time“.
Starting from April 2004 until June 2005 one could visit the exhibition „The ‘50s. Petticoat, Roller & Rock´n´Roll. Every-day life between reconstruction and economic miracle”.
Between September 1st 2005 and January 2006, the guests of the New Museum were the scouts of Schwechat, who organized an exhibition about "60 Years of Scouting in Schwechat".
A new exhibition is currently being prepared. Its theme is "Journeys in the course of time" and will open its gates in the spring of 2006, probably in May.
Under the Motto „Talk in the New Museum“ several historical presentations and discussions take place, concerning events that took place during the city’s history.
